Find out what is actually wrong
Full audit of site, profile and competitors. Call and form tracking switched on, so from day one we count enquiries instead of arguing about them.
More calls and enquiries from Google for Devon businesses, run from Exeter by one person. Measured every month and written up by the 5th. Not impressions, not a visibility score.

✱Exeter
Yes, this is an Exeter business. The studio runs from EX5, east of the city, and most of the work sits within an hour's drive of it.
Being local does not make the SEO better, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling proximity. What it changes is smaller and more useful: going through a Google Business Profile together is a coffee rather than a video call, and the towns in your service area are places I have actually driven to.
One person, in the same county as the businesses he works for.
Clients here include Tash Thomas-Still Counselling, a therapy practice in Exeter. The work is the same as anywhere else in Devon: identical details on every listing, a profile that is actually finished, and pages that answer what people typed.
Not a national agency with an Exeter landing page. Who you would actually be working with.
✱The problem
Almost always one of three things: your details differ between listings, your profile was never finished, or you have not told Google which towns you serve. Occasionally it is a suspension, or a duplicate listing competing with itself.
Someone in Exeter needs a plumber, a caterer, a physio. They search on their phone, glance at the three businesses in the map pack, read two reviews and call one. Eleven seconds. It is over before anybody visits a website.
Google cannot recommend what it cannot clearly understand.
None of this is a mystery and none of it needs a new website. It needs the boring work of making one business legible: the same details everywhere, a finished profile, and pages that answer what people typed.
Inconsistent details, a half-filled profile, no service area. All three are fixable inside a month.
✱Price
£350 a month, fixed. Most UK agencies publish a range of £300 to £10,000 and make you book a call to find out where you land in it.
One number, one scope, written down before you commit. Twenty clients is the ceiling because I do the work myself, so the price moves with how many places are left, never with how much you appear to be able to pay.
Month to month, 30 days' notice, pause up to two months a year. Existing clients keep their rate forever.
Websites are priced separately. See the pricing page.
✱Proof
At £350 a month, one recovered job usually covers it for a Devon trade or practice. Whether there are jobs to recover depends on your market, and the free audit answers that before you spend anything.
Field to Fork Catering, a Devon caterer competing with established Exeter names, came off a slow WordPress site onto a hand-written one, with the profile rebuilt and service pages written around real searches. Within three months they were being found for their main Exeter terms, measured in enquiries, not screenshots.
✱What clients say
They took the time to understand my goals and delivered a sleek, modern website that is easy to navigate. Professional, creative and quick to answer any question. I would recommend RamX, and Cisco in particular, to anyone looking to build or improve their website and their search engine ranking.
Great, professional and committed service. RamX Web Solutions will adjust to your bespoke needs to get the best results for your company. Highly recommended.
Cisco really listens to your needs and tailors your website with a professional, fresh style. He keeps you informed on how the site is performing and suggests improvements, he is up to date on the latest legal requirements, and he is careful about the security a website needs.
✱Timing
Profile work moves in weeks and organic search takes months: expect movement in the map pack around month two, and a change in enquiries you can feel around month four to six. What month one always delivers is the fixing, and that part is guaranteed.
Full audit of site, profile and competitors. Call and form tracking switched on, so from day one we count enquiries instead of arguing about them.
Google Business Profile filled out properly. Your details made consistent across the directories that matter. Technical faults cleared.
On-page work on the pages that earn enquiries, town and service pages where they genuinely make sense, and a simple review routine.
What changed, what it did, what happens next month. Two pages, plain English, no dashboard login required.

Audit implemented, profile optimised and the top technical issues fixed inside 30 days, or that month is free.
✱How Google decides
Google weighs three things: how consistent your information is, how close you are to the searcher, and how prominent your business looks to everyone else. Everything in the retainer is one of these three, done deliberately and in the right order.
Your name, address, phone and hours identical wherever they appear. Google reads contradictions as doubt, and doubt loses to a competitor who is boringly consistent.
Signal 1 · consistencyHow close you are to the searcher is the one signal nobody can buy. What you can do is tell Google honestly which towns you cover, so you show up in Cullompton and Newton Abbot, not only on your own street.
Signal 2 · proximityReal reviews arriving steadily, mentions on Devon websites, pages that answer the question somebody actually typed. The slow signal, and the one that compounds.
Signal 3 · prominenceDevon is a county of separate markets. Ranking in Exeter does nothing for a business whose customers are in Barnstaple, and a service-area business can hold several towns at once when the profile is set up honestly.
I work with businesses in Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Exmouth, Tiverton, Cullompton, Tavistock and Barnstaple, and with online-national practices based in Devon.
✱The retainer
In my case, six things, written down so you can check them against the invoice. And six things I will not do, which matters just as much.
✱Guarantees
Audit implemented, profile optimised, top technical issues fixed inside 30 days, or I do not invoice for that month.
If the report is late you will hear it from me first. Email on Tuesday, hear back on Wednesday.
Quiet season, cashflow, a wedding. Pause without losing your rate or your slot.
Accounts, content, tracking and a written handover document. Nothing held hostage, no exit fee. 30 days' notice.
We review the leading indicators together. If the data says this is not working, I will say so first.
Nobody controls Google, so every guarantee here is about my conduct: what I deliver, when I report, how you leave. None of them is about where you rank.
✱Questions
For a small UK business, £300 to £500 a month is the honest range for work done by a person rather than a script. Mine is £350 a month, fixed. Below about £250 you are usually buying automated reports; above about £1,000 you are usually paying for an account manager between you and the work.
It is worth it when your customers search before they buy and there is enough local demand to compete for. For a Devon trade or practice, one recovered job a month usually covers the £350. If your market does not search, the free audit will show that and I will tell you before you spend anything.
The work is not difficult to understand, but it is relentless and dull, and it only pays when it is done every month. Most owners can do it for six weeks and then stop. Paying someone is buying the continuity, not the secret.
Google Business Profile work moves in weeks. Organic search takes months. Realistically: movement in the map pack around month two, and a change in enquiries you can feel around month four to six. Anyone promising faster is guessing.
Claim and verify the Google Business Profile, set the categories and service area honestly, and make sure your name, address and phone number match everywhere else online. Most businesses that cannot be found have a profile that was never finished.
Verification usually takes a few days to two weeks, depending on the method Google offers you. Appearing is quick; ranking in the three results people actually call is the part that takes months.
Usually a suspension after an edit that looked suspicious to Google: a changed name, an address that cannot be verified, a category swap or a virtual office. Sometimes it is a duplicate listing competing with itself. Both are recoverable, and both are faster to fix than to argue about.
Not all of them. If you are booked out on word of mouth, you do not need this. If you rely on people finding you when they need a plumber, a caterer or a counsellor at short notice, then being invisible on the phone screen is a real cost.
AI answers are changing how results look, not whether local businesses get chosen. Assistants still read the same signals: a consistent profile, real reviews and pages that answer the question clearly. The work stays the same; the surface changes.
Sign in to Google Business Profile, claim the listing and choose the verification method Google offers you, usually a video call, a postcard or a phone code. Record the details exactly as they appear on your website, because a mismatch is the most common reason verification fails. A step-by-step guide is being written; ask me in the meantime and I will walk you through it.
Start with the free audit. No obligation, no slide deck, no follow-up sequence. Sometimes the honest answer is that it would not be worth it, and I will tell you that too.
